Finding My Career in the Working World as a Trans Professional
Here's the thing, moving through the job market as a trans professional in 2025 has been absolutely wild. I've been there, and not gonna lie, it's turned into so much easier than it was back in the day.
My Start: Stepping Into the Job Market
Back when I initially started living authentically at work, I was completely nervous AF. No cap, I believed my job prospects was finished. But here's the thing, everything went way better than I imagined.
My first job after living authentically was in a tech startup. The culture was immaculate. The staff used my chosen name from the get-go, and I didn't have to encounter those awkward conversations of endlessly updating people.
Areas That Are Genuinely Accepting
From my experience and connecting with other trans folks, here are the fields that are genuinely stepping up:
**IT and Tech**
Tech companies has been incredibly progressive. Companies like leading software firms have comprehensive diversity programs. I got a job as a engineer and the support were outstanding – comprehensive benefits for gender-affirming procedures.
I remember when, during a sync, someone mistakenly used wrong pronouns for me, and like three people instantly said something before I could even process it. That's when I knew I was in the right environment.
